The Lawn on D opened in August 2014 and is a very cool spot. We went to see one of our kids' favorite bands, Dan Zanes & Friends, and were astonished when we arrived. There were so many amazing activities for kids. We headed straight for the enormous swinging rings. They were all taken, but everyone was taking turns and sharing and we did the same.
There were a lot of tables set up with art projects and my daughter chose to start with one that she recognized. The table was sponsored by a local art studio and the kids were making cards for the child clients of Cradles to Crayons. We have been donating some of our baby items there lately and also talking about the importance of this organization at home.
Set up towards the back of green space was a reading area for families to relax and take a break. It had a big cozy rug, bean bags, little chairs for kids with comfy pillows and a table of books for the kids to peruse. Porter Square Books generously donated a large amount of currently published, brand new children's titles and we had to check them out.
Another fun spot we found was a drumming corner. All kinds of different drums were set up as well as foam sticks that all of the kids were sharing. The concert we were waiting for started while we were drumming so my daughter really got into keeping the beat to her favorite songs.
The grand finale of our afternoon on the lawn was Dan Zanes. He had the kids dancing, creating conga lines and making new friends by finding different dance partners.
Has your family found or heard of any new or cool places to hang out? We'd love to check them out!
